Living Room Safety Tips
Furniture:
Cushion the edges of all end tables and coffee tables.
Remove all glass tables or cabinets or replace the glass with plexis glass.
Remove all small objects from lower shelves that are within your child's reach.
Check under any tables or furniture for tacks, nails or staples that may injure your child if they are to crawl under it and hit it with their head.
Remove any tall lamps or coat racks that your child can pull over and on to themselves.
Do not place furniture next to items or windows that your child can climb up to or out of.
Install safety latches on drawers and cabinet drawers in the living room.
Fireplace:
The fireplace should be padded or blocked off with a hearth gate.
The fireplace key should be removed and placed out of reach of children.
Electrical:
Anchor your television or stereo equipment so that your child can not pull it on to themselves.
Use sliding outlet pugs on all exposed electrical outlets.
Use box outlet cover when cords are plugged permanently into the outlets.
Do not use tacks or staples to secure electrical cords to the wall as they can pose as a choking hazard.
Mount power strips inside cabinetry or out of sight from your children.
Secure lamp cords to the tables with cord guards or secure them to the table leg.
